Myriam Márquez, a veteran journalist with a record of innovation in the digital space, became the interim director of NLA in May 2021. Before joining NLA, Marquez served as communications director in the Miami-Dade County mayor’s office after spending 12 years at the Miami Herald Media Co. She served as executive editor of the award-winning el Nuevo Herald, among the nation’s largest daily Spanish-language newspapers and digital sites. Before that, Marquez was the first woman and Hispanic to serve as the Miami Herald’s opinion editor and in various other leadership roles. Marquez also worked for 18 years at the Orlando Sentinel. Born in Cuba, Márquez is a graduate of the University of Maryland.

Belinda Williams joined NLA as Director of Marketing and Membership in June 2021 and focuses on development, branding, building audience, membership and partnerships. She has over 25 years of progressive experience in marketing, strategic development and branding. Before joining NLA, Belinda served as Interim Director of Marketing and Communication for Harris-Stowe State University and Vice-President of Business Development and Quality Assurance for Construct Two Group (CTG), where she spent six years. Prior to CTG, Belinda spent 22 years with the Orlando Sentinel in various marketing and editorial roles. She was actively involved in the organization’s diversity and volunteer initiatives. Her work was recognized with numerous awards including the Sentinel’s Spirit of Excellence and Values Awards. A past board chair of the YMCA Black Achievers board and former Central Florida United Way Loaned Executive, Belinda is a graduate of Excelsior College.
